A tailor invited the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to a meal he had prepared. Anas said, "I went with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to that meal. Barley bread and a broth containing gourd and cured meat were brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."Anas continued, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ picking out the pieces of gourd from around the dish, and I have loved gourd ever since that day."
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Foods, chapter on broth, no. 5436, from Qanabi. And Muslim narrated it in the Book of Drinks, chapter on the permissibility of eating broth and the recommendation of eating gourd, etc., no. 2041, through the hadith of Malik with the same wording, and it is found in Muwatta (Yahya's version) 2/546-547.
