The Prophet ﷺ said, "When the dinner of one of you is served and the prayer has been called, he should not get up until he has finished eating."Musaddad added, "Whenever Abdullah's dinner was served or brought to him, he would not get up until he had finished, even if he heard the iqamah, and even if he heard the imam reciting."
حدثنا أحمد بن حنبل ومسدد المعنى قال أحمد حدثني يحيى القطان عن عبيد الله قال حدثني نافع
أن النبي ﷺ قال إذا وضع عشاء أحدكم وأقيمت الصلاة فلا يقوم حتى يفرغ زاد مسدد وكان عبد الله إذا وضع عشاؤه أو حضر عشاؤه لم يقم حتى يفرغ وإن سمع الإقامة وإن سمع قراءة الإمام
[Its chain is sahih]. Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Adhan, chapter "When food is brought and the prayer is called," no. 673, and Muslim in the Book of Mosques, chapter "The dislike of praying while food which one wishes to eat immediately is present," etc., no. 559, from the hadith of Ubaydullah bin Umar, on this same wording. It is also in Musnad Ahmad, 2/20.
