A man who was part of the delegation that came to the Prophet ﷺ from Abdul-Qays, whose name Awf believes was Qays bin Numan, reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, "Do not drink from a hollowed-out stump, nor from a pitch-coated vessel, nor from a gourd, nor from a green jar. Drink from a tied-up leather skin. If the drink becomes strong, dilute it with water, and if that fails, pour it out."

رجل كان من الوفد الذين وفدوا إلى النبي ﷺ من عبد القيس يحسب عوف أن اسمه قيس بن النعمان فقال لا تشربوا في نقير ولا مزفت ولا دباء ولا حنتم واشربوا في الجلد الموكى عليه فإن اشتد فاكسروه بالماء فإن أعياكم فأهريقوه
