I said to Zubayr, "What keeps you from narrating from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as his companions narrate from him?"He replied, "By Allah, I had a close standing and position with him, but I heard him say, 'Whoever lies about me deliberately, let him take his seat in the Fire.'"
حدثنا عمرو بن عون أخبرنا خالد ح و حدثنا مسدد حدثنا خالد المعنى عن بيان بن بشر قال مسدد أبو بشر عن وبرة بن عبد الرحمن
قلت للزبير ما يمنعك أن تحدث عن رسول الله ﷺ كما يحدث عنه أصحابه فقال أما والله لقد كان لي منه وجه ومنزلة ولكني سمعته يقول من كذب علي متعمدا فليتبوأ مقعده من النار
Bukhari transmitted it in the Book of Knowledge, the chapter on the sin of lying about the Prophet, hadith no. 107, from the hadith of Amir, through his chain.
