The Prophet ﷺ ruled that a case may be decided on the basis of an oath together with a single witness.

[Its chain of transmission is sahih]. Ibn Majah recorded it in the Book of Rulings, Chapter on Judging by the Witness and the Oath, Hadith 2368, from Ahmad bin Abu Bakr with this wording. Tirmidhi, Hadith 1343, said it is hasan gharib, and Ibn Jarud graded it sahih, Hadith 1007.
