Maslama bin Muqlid appointed Ruwayfi bin Thabit as governor over the lower part of the land.Shayban said, "We traveled with him from Kawm Sharik to Alqama," or, "from Alqama to Kawm Sharik," meaning Alqam.Ruwayfi said, "In the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, one of us would take his brother's lean camel on the condition that half of whatever he gained as spoils would be his and half would be ours. And it would happen that one of us would receive the arrowhead and feathers as his share, while the other received the shaft."Then he said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, 'Ruwayfi, life may be prolonged for you after me, so inform the people that whoever ties knots in his beard, or wears a bowstring as a necklace, or cleans himself after relieving himself with animal dung or a bone, then Muhammad ﷺ is free of him.'"

إن مسلمة بن مخلد استعمل رويفع بن ثابت على أسفل الأرض قال شيبان فسرنا معه من كوم شريك إلى علقماء أو من علقماء إلى كوم شريك يريد علقام فقال رويفع إن كان أحدنا في زمن رسول الله ﷺ ليأخذ نضو أخيه على أن له النصف مما يغنم ولنا النصف وإن كان أحدنا ليطير له النصل والريش وللآخر القدح ثم قال قال لي رسول الله ﷺ يا رويفع لعل الحياة ستطول بك بعدي فأخبر الناس أنه من عقد لحيته أو تقلد وترا أو استنجى برجيع دابة أو عظم فإن محمدا ﷺ منه بريء
