When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent him to Yemen, he mentioned its meaning.
حدثنا مسدد حدثنا يحيى عن شعبة حدثني أبو عون عن الحارث بن عمرو عن ناس من أصحاب معاذ
أن رسول الله ﷺ لما بعثه إلى اليمن فذكر معناه
[Daif] see the previous hadith. Bayhaqi also narrated it, 3/114, from the hadith of Abu Dawud with the same wording.
