The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you buys food, let him not sell it until he has taken possession of it." Sulayman bin Harb's wording is, "until he has received it in full."Musaddad added that Ibn Abbas said, "And I consider everything to be like food in this regard."
حدثنا مسدد وسليمان بن حرب قالا حدثنا حماد ح و حدثنا مسدد حدثنا أبو عوانة وهذا لفظ مسدد عن عمرو بن دينار عن طاوس
قال رسول الله ﷺ إذا اشترى أحدكم طعاما فلا يبعه حتى يقبضه قال سليمان بن حرب حتى يستوفيه زاد مسدد قال وقال ابن عباس وأحسب أن كل شيء مثل الطعام
Muslim reported it, hadith no. 1525, from the hadith of Hammad bin Zayd, see the previous hadith. And Bukhari, Book of Sales, Chapter on Selling Food Before It Is Received, etc., hadith no. 2135, from the hadith of Amr bin Dinar.
