When the final verses of Surah al-Baqarah were revealed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out and recited them to us, then said, "Trade in wine has been forbidden."
حدثنا مسلم بن إبراهيم حدثنا شعبة عن سليمان عن أبي الضحى عن مسروق
لما نزلت الآيات الأواخر من سورة البقرة خرج رسول الله ﷺ فقرأهن علينا وقال حرمت التجارة في الخمر
Bukhari narrated it in Buyu, chapter "Prohibition of Trading in Wine," no. 2226, from Muslim bin Ibrahim, and Muslim narrated it in Musaqah, chapter "Prohibition of Selling Wine," no. 1580, from the hadith of Sulayman Amash, with the same wording.
