The people said, "Messenger of Allah, prices have risen, so set prices for us."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Indeed, Allah is the One who sets prices, who withholds and who gives abundantly, and who provides sustenance. I hope to meet Allah with none of you holding a grievance against me concerning blood or property."
حدثنا عثمان بن أبي شيبة حدثنا عفان حدثنا حماد بن سلمة أخبرنا ثابت عن أنس بن مالك وقتادة وحميد
الناس يا رسول الله غلا السعر فسعر لنا فقال رسول الله ﷺ إن الله هو المسعر القابض الباسط الرازق وإني لأرجو أن ألقى الله وليس أحد منكم يطالبني بمظلمة في دم ولا مال
[Its chain of transmission is sahih. Tirmidhi narrated it in the Book of Trade, Chapter on What Has Been Said Concerning Price-Fixing, no. 1314, and Ibn Majah, no. 2200, from the hadith of Hammad bin Salama with the same wording, and Tirmidhi said, hasan sahih.]
