I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever washes on Friday and performs ghusl, then sets out early and arrives early, walks rather than rides, sits close to the imam, listens attentively, and does not engage in idle talk, will receive for every step the reward of a year's worth of deeds, equivalent to the reward of fasting its days and praying through its nights."
[Its isnad is sahih]. Ibn Majah reported it in "Establishing the Prayers," the chapter on what has been said about ghusl on Friday, hadith 1087, from the hadith of Abdullah bin Mubarak, with this wording. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, hadith 1767, as did Ibn Hibban, hadith 559, and Hakim, according to the criterion of the two Shaykhs, 1/381, 382, and Dhahabi agreed with him. It has another route in Tirmidhi, hadith 496, where he graded it hasan.
