The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade selling fruit until it ripens.Someone asked, "What does ripening mean?"He replied, "It turns red or yellow and becomes fit to eat."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن خلاد الباهلي حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن سليم بن حيان أخبرنا سعيد بن ميناء قال سمعت
نهى رسول الله ﷺ أن تباع الثمرة حتى تشقح قيل وما تشقح قال تحمار وتصفار ويؤكل منها
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Sales, Chapter on selling fruits before their ripeness becomes apparent, hadith 2196, from the hadith of Yahya Qattan. Muslim also narrated it in the Book of Sales, Chapter on the prohibition of muhaqalah, muzabanah, and mukhabarah... and so on, hadith 1536/84, after hadith 1543, from the hadith of Salim bin Hayan, with the same wording.
