The Messenger of Allah ﷺ began to forbid making vows. Then the two narrators agreed in their wording, and he said, "It does not change anything, it only extracts something from the miserly."Musaddad's version reads, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A vow does not change anything."
حدثنا عثمان بن أبي شيبة حدثنا جرير بن عبد الحميد ح و حدثنا مسدد حدثنا أبو عوانة عن منصور عن عبد الله بن مرة قال عثمان الهمداني
أخذ رسول الله ﷺ ينهى عن النذر ثم اتفقا ويقول لا يرد شيئا وإنما يستخرج به من البخيل قال مسدد قال رسول الله ﷺ النذر لا يرد شيئا
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Vows, in the chapter "The prohibition of vows, and that they do not change anything," hadith no. 1639, from the hadith of Jareer, and Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Divine Decree, in the chapter "The servant attributing his vow to divine decree," hadith no. 6608, from the hadith of Mansur, with the same wording.
