His mother had instructed him to free a believing slave on her behalf. He came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, my mother instructed me to free a believing slave on her behalf, and I have a black Nubian Jariya." He then mentioned something similar.
حدثنا موسى بن إسمعيل حدثنا حماد عن محمد بن عمرو عن أبي سلمة
أن أمه أوصته أن يعتق عنها رقبة مؤمنة فأتى النبي ﷺ فقال يا رسول الله إن أمي أوصت أن أعتق عنها رقبة مؤمنة وعندي جارية سوداء نوبية فذكر نحوه
[Its chain of transmission is hasan] Nasai narrated it in the Book of Wills, Chapter on the Merit of Charity on Behalf of the Deceased, no. 3683, from the hadith of Hammad bin Salama, in this manner.
