In this account, the Prophet ﷺ said, "It would have been enough for you to do this." He then struck the ground with his hand, blew into it, and wiped his face and hands with it. Salama was uncertain and said, "I do not know whether it was up to the elbows or only to the hands."
حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا محمد يعني ابن جعفر أخبرنا شعبة عن سلمة عن ذر عن ابن عبد الرحمن بن أبزى عن أبيه
بهذه القصة فقال إنما كان يكفيك وضرب النبي ﷺ بيده إلى الأرض ثم نفخ فيها ومسح بها وجهه وكفيه شك سلمة وقال لا أدري فيه إلى المرفقين يعني أو إلى الكفين
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on tayammum, in the section titled "Should the one performing tayammum blow into his hands?", hadith no. 338, and Muslim narrated it in the chapter on menstruation, in the section on tayammum, hadith no. 368, both from the hadith of Shubah, through this same route.
