Harith left instructions that Abdullah bin Yazid should perform the funeral prayer over him. So he prayed over him, then placed him into the grave from the foot of the grave, and said, "This is from the Sunnah."
حدثنا عبيد الله بن معاذ حدثنا أبي حدثنا شعبة
أوصى الحارث أن يصلي عليه عبد الله بن يزيد فصلى عليه ثم أدخله القبر من قبل رجلي القبر وقال هذا من السنة
[Its chain is sahih]. Bukhari narrated it in al-Tarikh al-Saghir 1/183 from the hadith of Shubah with the same chain, and said, "He is Harith bin Abdullah al-Awar al-Hamdani." Bayhaqi said in 4/54, "This chain is sahih, and since he said, 'This is from the sunnah,' it becomes like a musnad report."
