[Sahih]. Ahmad narrated it, 4/375, from Hajjaj bin Muhammad with the same chain, and Hakim graded it sahih according to the conditions of the two shaykhs, 1/342, and Dhahabi agreed with him. The hadith has corroborating narrations.Abu Ishaq Sabi explicitly stated that he heard it directly, as recorded by Bukhari in Adab al-Mufrad, no. 532.
