A man from Thakeef reported, on the authority of a man from Juhaynah, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Perhaps you will fight a people and prevail over them, and they will protect themselves from you by offering their wealth, sparing their lives and their children." Saeed said in his version, "And they will make peace with you on certain terms." Then the narrators agreed, "So do not take from them anything beyond that, for it is not lawful for you."

من ثقيف عن رجل من جهينة قال قال رسول الله ﷺ لعلكم تقاتلون قوما فتظهرون عليهم فيتقونكم بأموالهم دون أنفسهم وأبنائهم قال سعيد في حديثه فيصالحونكم على صلح ثم اتفقا فلا تصيبوا منهم شيئا فوق ذلك فإنه لا يصلح لكم

[Its chain of transmission is daif] Bayhaqi (9:204, 205) transmitted it from the hadith of Abu Dawud through the same route, and it is also found in Sunan Saeed bin Mansur, hadith no. 2603. The man from Thaqif is unknown.
