The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave instructions concerning three matters. He said, "Expel the polytheists from the Arabian Peninsula, and grant delegations gifts in the same manner that I used to grant them."Ibn Abbas said, "He remained silent about the third," or he said, "I have forgotten it."Al-Humaydi reported from Sufyan that Sulayman said, "I do not know whether Saeed mentioned the third matter and I forgot it, or whether he himself remained silent about it."
حدثنا سعيد بن منصور حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن سليمان الأحول عن سعيد بن جبير
أن رسول الله ﷺ أوصى بثلاثة فقال أخرجوا المشركين من جزيرة العرب وأجيزوا الوفد بنحو مما كنت أجيزهم قال ابن عباس وسكت عن الثالثة أو قال فأنسيتها وقال الحميدي عن سفيان قال سليمان لا أدري أذكر سعيد الثالثة فنسيتها أو سكت عنها
Reported by Muslim, Wasiyyah, chapter "Leaving no bequest for one who has nothing to bequeath," no. 1637/20, from Saeed bin Mansur, and Bukhari, jihad and expeditions, chapter "Should intercession be sought with the people of the covenant, and dealing with them?" no. 3053, from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, with the same wording.
