Umar bin Khattab one day mentioned the spoils of war and said, "I have no greater right to these spoils than you do, nor does any one of us have greater right to them than another, except according to our standing in the Book of Allah and the distribution made by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So a man is judged by his precedence in Islam, a man by his trials endured, a man by his dependents, and a man by his need."
حدثنا النفيلي حدثنا محمد بن سلمة عن محمد بن إسحق عن محمد بن عمرو بن عطاء
ذكر عمر بن الخطاب يوما الفيء فقال ما أنا بأحق بهذا الفيء منكم وما أحد منا بأحق به من أحد إلا أنا على منازلنا من كتاب الله عز وجل وقسم رسول الله ﷺ فالرجل وقدمه والرجل وبلاؤه والرجل وعياله والرجل وحاجته

[Its chain of transmission is daif] Ahmad narrated it (1/42) from the hadith of Muhammad bin Ishaq, through this same route, and I did not find an explicit statement of his hearing it in this context.
