Regarding the verse, "And to those with whom you have made pledges, give them their share" [Nisa 4:33], a man would enter into a pact of alliance with another man with whom he had no kinship, and one of them would inherit from the other. This was abrogated by Surah al-Anfal, where Allah Most High said, "And those of blood relations are more entitled to inherit from one another" [Anfal 8:75].
