The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about the aqiqah, and he said, "Allah does not love uquq," as though he disliked the name. Then he said, "Whoever has a child born to him and wishes to offer a sacrifice on its behalf, let him sacrifice two comparable sheep for a boy and one sheep for a girl."He was also asked about the firstborn offering of livestock, and he said, "The fara is a valid practice, but if you leave it until it becomes a young camel, either a yearling or a two-year-old, then give it to a widow or use it as a mount in the cause of Allah, that is better than slaughtering it while it is still small, so that its meat sticks to its hair, and you overturn your vessel and leave your she-camel bereft of her young."

سئل رسول الله ﷺ عن العقيقة فقال لا يحب الله العقوق كأنه كره الاسم وقال من ولد له ولد فأحب أن ينسك عنه فلينسك عن الغلام شاتان مكافئتان وعن الجارية شاة وسئل عن الفرع قال والفرع حق وأن تتركوه حتى يكون بكرا شغزبا ابن مخاض أو ابن لبون فتعطيه أرملة أو تحمل عليه في سبيل الله خير من أن تذبحه فيلزق لحمه بوبره وتكفأ إناءك وتوله ناقتك
