Iyas bin Salama reported,

Abdul-Rahman bin Uyayna raided the camels of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and killed their herdsman. He set off driving them away, along with some men on horseback. I turned my face toward Madinah and called out three times, "A morning raid!" Then I followed the raiders, shooting arrows and hamstringing their mounts. Whenever a horseman turned back toward me, I would sit at the foot of a tree, until I had recovered every single one of the Prophet's ﷺ camels and put them behind me. They even threw down more than thirty spears and thirty cloaks to lighten their load.Then Uyayna came to them with reinforcements. He said, "Let a group of you go up against him." Four of them rose toward me and climbed the mountain. When I was within earshot, I said, "Do you know me?"They asked, "Who are you?"I said, "I am Ibn al-Akwa. By the One who has honored the face of Muhammad ﷺ, not one of you can pursue me and catch me, nor can I pursue him and let him escape."I did not move from my place until I saw the horsemen of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ coming through the trees. The first of them was al-Akhram al-Asadi. He caught up with Abdul-Rahman bin Uyayna, and Abdul-Rahman wheeled around to face him. They exchanged two thrusts. Al-Akhram hamstrung Abdul-Rahman's horse, and Abdul-Rahman thrust at him and killed him. Abdul-Rahman then mounted al-Akhram's horse.Abu Qatada caught up with Abdul-Rahman, and they exchanged two thrusts. Abu Qatada's horse was hamstrung, and Abu Qatada killed Abdul-Rahman. Abu Qatada then mounted al-Akhram's horse.Then I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who was at the watering place from which I had driven the raiders away, called Dhu Qarad. The Prophet of Allah ﷺ was with five hundred men, and he gave me the share of a horseman and the share of a foot soldier.

حدثني إياس بن سلمة عن أبيه قال

أغار عبد الرحمن بن عيينة على إبل رسول الله ﷺ فقتل راعيها فخرج يطردها هو وأناس معه في خيل فجعلت وجهي قبل المدينة ثم ناديت ثلاث مرات يا صباحاه ثم اتبعت القوم فجعلت أرمي وأعقرهم فإذا رجع إلي فارس جلست في أصل شجرة حتى ما خلق الله شيئا من ظهر النبي ﷺ إلا جعلته وراء ظهري وحتى ألقوا أكثر من ثلاثين رمحا وثلاثين بردة يستخفون منها ثم أتاهم عيينة مددا فقال ليقم إليه نفر منكم فقام إلي أربعة منهم فصعدوا الجبل فلما أسمعتهم قلت أتعرفوني قالوا ومن أنت قلت أنا ابن الأكوع والذي كرم وجه محمد ﷺ لا يطلبني رجل منكم فيدركني ولا أطلبه فيفوتني فما برحت حتى نظرت إلى فوارس رسول الله ﷺ يتخللون الشجر أولهم الأخرم الأسدي فيلحق بعبد الرحمن بن عيينة ويعطف عليه عبد الرحمن فاختلفا طعنتين فعقر الأخرم عبد الرحمن وطعنه عبد الرحمن فقتله فتحول عبد الرحمن على فرس الأخرم فيلحق أبو قتادة بعبد الرحمن فاختلفا طعنتين فعقر بأبي قتادة وقتله أبو قتادة فتحول أبو قتادة على فرس الأخرم ثم جئت إلى رسول الله ﷺ وهو على الماء الذي جليتهم عنه ذو قرد فإذا نبي الله ﷺ في خمس مائة فأعطاني سهم الفارس والراجل
