The Prophet ﷺ said about the captives of Badr, "Had Mutim bin Adi been alive and interceded with me for these vile ones, I would have released them for his sake."
حدثنا محمد بن يحيى بن فارس قال حدثنا عبد الرزاق قال أخبرنا معمر عن الزهري
أن النبي ﷺ قال لأسارى بدر لو كان مطعم بن عدي حيا ثم كلمني في هؤلاء النتنى لأطلقتهم له
Bukhari transmitted it in the Book of the Distribution of Khumus (One-Fifth of Spoils of War), in the chapter on the Prophet's ﷺ generosity to captives without dividing them into fifths, hadith no. 3139, from the hadith of Abdul-Razzaq, with this same wording.
