When the Prophet ﷺ met the polytheists on the day of Hunayn and they were exposed, he dismounted from his mule and proceeded on foot.
حدثنا عثمان بن أبي شيبة حدثنا وكيع عن إسرائيل عن أبي إسحق
لما لقي النبي ﷺ المشركين يوم حنين فانكشفوا نزل عن بغلته فترجل
Sourcing, sahih. Bukhari narrated it in Jihad and Expeditions, chapter of "Whoever said, 'Take it, I am the son of so-and-so,'" hadith 3042, and Muslim, hadith 1776, from the hadith of Abu Ishaq, in a longer form.
