Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ traveled and night drew near, he would say, "Earth, my Lord and your Lord is Allah. I seek refuge in Allah from your evil, the evil within you, the evil of what was created in you, and the evil of what crawls upon you. I seek refuge in Allah from lions, from black serpents, from snakes and scorpions, from the inhabitants of the land, and from every parent and what they beget."
حدثنا عمرو بن عثمان حدثنا بقية حدثني صفوان حدثني شريح بن عبيد عن الزبير بن الوليد
كان رسول الله ﷺ إذا سافر فأقبل الليل قال يا أرض ربي وربك الله أعوذ بالله من شرك وشر ما فيك وشر ما خلق فيك ومن شر ما يدب عليك وأعوذ بالله من أسد وأسود ومن الحية والعقرب ومن ساكن البلد ومن والد وما ولد
[Hasan] Nasai narrated it in Amal al-Yawm wal-Layla, no. 563, from the hadith of Baqiyyah, and Ahmad, 2/132, from the hadith of Safwan on the same basis, and Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 2572, as did Hakim, 101/2, and Dhahabi agreed with him. Zubayr bin Walid is hasan al-hadith according to the more correct view.
