Jubayr bin Nufayr gave me a ruling concerning the bath required after major ritual impurity, reporting that Thawban told them they had asked the Prophet ﷺ about it. He replied, "As for the man, let him loosen the hair of his head and wash it until the water reaches the roots. As for the woman, there is no obligation upon her to undo her hair. She need only pour three handfuls of water over her head with her palms."
حدثنا محمد بن عوف قال قرأت في أصل إسمعيل بن عياش قال ابن عوف و حدثنا محمد بن إسمعيل عن أبيه حدثني ضمضم بن زرعة
أفتاني جبير بن نفير عن الغسل من الجنابة أن ثوبان حدثهم أنهم استفتوا النبي ﷺ عن ذلك فقال أما الرجل فلينشر رأسه فليغسله حتى يبلغ أصول الشعر وأما المرأة فلا عليها أن لا تنقضه لتغرف على رأسها ثلاث غرفات بكفيها
