I came to Ibn Abbas while he was reclining on his cloak in the Sacred Mosque, and I asked him about fasting the day of Ashura.He said, "When you see the crescent of Muharram, count the days, and on the ninth day wake up fasting."I asked, "Is this how Muhammad ﷺ used to fast it?"He replied, "That is how Muhammad ﷺ used to fast it."
