He set out with Usama to Wadi al-Qura in pursuit of some property of his. He used to fast on Mondays and Thursdays, so his freed slave said to him, "Why do you fast on Mondays and Thursdays when you are an old man?"He replied, "The Prophet of Allah ﷺ used to fast on Mondays and Thursdays, and when he was asked about that, he said, 'The deeds of the servants are presented on Mondays and Thursdays.'"
حدثنا موسى بن إسمعيل حدثنا أبان حدثنا يحيى عن عمر بن أبي الحكم بن ثوبان عن مولى قدامة بن مظعون
أنه انطلق مع أسامة إلى وادي القرى في طلب مال له فكان يصوم يوم الاثنين ويوم الخميس فقال له مولاه لم تصوم يوم الاثنين ويوم الخميس وأنت شيخ كبير فقال إن نبي الله ﷺ كان يصوم يوم الاثنين ويوم الخميس وسئل عن ذلك فقال إن أعمال العباد تعرض يوم الاثنين ويوم الخميس
[Its chain is daif] Bayhaqi narrated it, 4/210, from the hadith of Abu Dawud with the same wording. The freedman of Qudama and the freedman of Usama are both obscure narrators. The hadith of Tirmidhi, no. 745, serves in its place.
