Ubayd, whom Jafar bin Jabr called, said, "I was with Abu Basra al-Ghifari, the companion of the Prophet ﷺ, on a boat traveling from Fustat during Ramadan. The boat set sail, then his morning meal was brought close to him."Jafar said in his version of the report, "We had not yet passed beyond the houses when he called for the food tray and said, 'Come closer.'"I said, "Do you not still see the houses?"Abu Basra replied, "Are you turning away from the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"Jafar said in his version, "So he ate."

[Its chain is daif]. Ahmad reported it, 6/398, from the hadith of Saeed bin Abu Ayub via this route, and Ibn Khuzayma flagged it as defective, hadith 2040. Kulayb is mastur, not deemed reliable by anyone except Ibn Hibban, and Ibn Khuzayma said, "I do not know him to be of established integrity."
