Whoever dies while owing fasts, his guardian should fast on his behalf.

من مات وعليه صيام صام عنه وليه
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Fasting, chapter on making up fasts on behalf of the deceased, hadith 1147, from the hadith of Ibn Wahb, and Bukhari, in the Book of Fasting, chapter on one who dies while owing a fast, hadith 1952, from the hadith of Amr bin Harith, through the same chain.
