The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When the middle of Shaban arrives, do not fast."Ala said, "O Allah, my father narrated this to me from Abu Hurairah from the Prophet ﷺ."
حدثنا قتيبة بن سعيد حدثنا عبد العزيز بن محمد قال قدم عباد بن كثير المدينة فمال إلى مجلس العلاء فأخذ بيده فأقامه ثم قال اللهم إن هذا يحدث عن أبيه
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال إذا انتصف شعبان فلا تصوموا فقال العلاء اللهم إن أبي حدثني عن أبي هريرة عن النبي ﷺ بذلك
[Its chain of transmission is sahih] Tirmidhi narrated it, in the Book of Fasting, chapter on what has been said about the dislike of fasting in the second half of Shaban out of regard for Ramadan, hadith 738, from Qutayba, through the same chain, and he said, hasan sahih.
