The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about a man who divorced his wife, meaning three times, and she then married another husband who consummated the marriage with her, but then he divorced her before having intercourse with her. Was she lawful for her first husband? She said, the Prophet ﷺ replied, "She is not lawful for the first husband until she tastes the sweetness of the second, and he tastes her sweetness."
[Its chain of transmission is daif. Nasai narrated it in the Book of Divorce, chapter on the divorce of a woman who marries another husband but he does not consummate the marriage with her, no. 3436, through the hadith of Abu Muawiya Darir with this wording. The hadith has many corroborating narrations. Amash and Ibrahim are both known for tadlis, and they narrated it using "an", but the hadith of Bukhari, no. 5261, and Muslim, no. 1433, makes it unnecessary.
