Mughith was a slave, and he said, "Messenger of Allah, intercede for me with her."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Barirah, fear Allah, for he is your husband and the father of your child."She replied, "Messenger of Allah, are you commanding me to do this?"He said, "No, I am only interceding."His tears were flowing down his cheeks, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Abbas, "Are you not amazed at Mughith's love for Barirah and her hatred for him?"
حدثنا موسى بن إسمعيل حدثنا حماد عن خالد الحذاء عن عكرمة
أن مغيثا كان عبدا فقال يا رسول الله اشفع لي إليها فقال رسول الله ﷺ يا بريرة اتقي الله فإنه زوجك وأبو ولدك فقالت يا رسول الله أتأمرني بذلك قال لا إنما أنا شافع فكان دموعه تسيل على خده فقال رسول الله ﷺ للعباس ألا تعجب من حب مغيث بريرة وبغضها إياه
Bukhari narrated it in the chapters on divorce, in the section on the Prophet's ﷺ intercession regarding Barirah's husband, hadith no. 5283, from the hadith of Khalid Haddan on this same subject.
