It is reported from the Prophet ﷺ that a man had declared his wife forbidden to him by likening her to his mother, but then he caught sight of the gleam of her leg in the moonlight and had relations with her. He went to the Prophet ﷺ, who ordered him to make expiation.
حدثنا زياد بن أيوب حدثنا إسمعيل حدثنا الحكم بن أبان عن عكرمة عن ابن عباس عن النبي ﷺ نحوه ولم يذكر الساق
[Its chain of transmission is hasan] Nasai narrated it in the chapter on divorce, section on zihar, no. 3487, Tirmidhi, no. 1199, and Ibn Majah, no. 2065, from the hadith of Hakam bin Abban with this same wording. Tirmidhi said, "Hasan sahih ghareeb."
