He came to the Black Stone and kissed it, then said, "I know that you are only a stone that brings neither benefit nor harm. Had I not seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ kiss you, I would not have kissed you."
حدثنا محمد بن كثير أخبرنا سفيان عن الأعمش عن إبراهيم عن عابس بن ربيعة
أنه جاء إلى الحجر فقبله فقال إني أعلم أنك حجر لا تنفع ولا تضر ولولا أني رأيت رسول الله ﷺ يقبلك ما قبلتك
Bukhari narrated it in the book of Hajj, chapter on what has been mentioned about the Black Stone, hadith 1597, from Muhammad bin Kathir. Muslim narrated it in the book of Hajj, chapter on the recommendation of kissing the Black Stone during tawaf, hadith 1270, through the hadith of Amash with the same wording.
