The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever breaks a bone or becomes lame is released from his ihram, and he must perform the Hajj the following year."Ikrima said, "I asked Ibn Abbas and Abu Hurayra about this, and they both said, 'He has spoken the truth.'"
حدثنا مسدد حدثنا يحيى عن حجاج الصواف حدثني يحيى بن أبي كثير عن عكرمة قال سمعت
قال رسول الله ﷺ من كسر أو عرج فقد حل وعليه الحج من قابل قال عكرمة سألت ابن عباس وأبا هريرة عن ذلك فقالا صدق
[Its chain is sahih] Ibn Majah narrated it in the Book of Rituals, Chapter on One Prevented (from Completing the Pilgrimage), no. 3077, and Nasai, no. 2864, from the hadith of Yahya Qattan through this route. Tirmidhi graded it hasan, no. 940, and Hakim graded it sahih according to the criterion of Bukhari, 1/470, 483, and Dhahabi agreed with him. It was criticized, but not in a way that undermines it.
