She said, "We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ just as the new moon of Dhul-Hijjah was about to appear. When we reached Dhul-Hulayfah, he said, 'Whoever wishes to enter ihram for hajj may do so, and whoever wishes to enter ihram for umrah may do so.'"Musa said in the narration of Wahib, "Had I not brought a sacrificial animal with me, I would have entered ihram for umrah."And in the narration of Hammad bin Salama, "As for me, I will enter ihram for hajj, for I have the sacrificial animal with me."Then the narrators agreed, "I was among those who entered ihram for umrah. When we were partway through the journey, I began menstruating. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came in upon me while I was weeping and asked, 'What makes you cry?'I said, 'I wish I had not set out this year.'He said, 'Set aside your umrah, undo your hair, and comb it.'"Musa added, "And enter ihram for hajj."Sulayman said, "And do what the Muslims do in their hajj."Then on the night of departure, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered Abdul-Rahman to take her to al-Tanim.Musa added, "She entered ihram for an umrah in place of her original umrah and made tawaf around the House, and Allah completed her umrah and her hajj for her."Hisham said, "There was no sacrificial animal involved in any of that."

أنها قالت خرجنا مع رسول الله ﷺ موافين هلال ذي الحجة فلما كان بذي الحليفة قال من شاء أن يهل بحج فليهل ومن شاء أن يهل بعمرة فليهل بعمرة قال موسى في حديث وهيب فإني لولا أني أهديت لأهللت بعمرة وقال في حديث حماد بن سلمة وأما أنا فأهل بالحج فإن معي الهدي ثم اتفقوا فكنت فيمن أهل بعمرة فلما كان في بعض الطريق حضت فدخل علي رسول الله ﷺ وأنا أبكي فقال ما يبكيك قلت وددت أني لم أكن خرجت العام قال ارفضي عمرتك وانقضي رأسك وامتشطي قال موسى وأهلي بالحج وقال سليمان واصنعي ما يصنع المسلمون في حجهم فلما كان ليلة الصدر أمر يعني رسول الله ﷺ عبد الرحمن فذهب بها إلى التنعيم زاد موسى فأهلت بعمرة مكان عمرتها وطافت بالبيت فقضى الله عمرتها وحجها قال هشام ولم يكن في شيء من ذلك هدي
[Sahih]. Nasai transmitted it in the Book of the Rites of Hajj, Chapter on Performing Hajj Alone, hadith no. 2718, from the hadith of Hammad bin Zayd, through the same chain. Bukhari also narrated it, hadith no. 317, as did Muslim, hadith no. 115/1211-117, from the hadith of Hisham bin Urwa, through the same chain, at greater length.
