The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sacrificed a single cow on behalf of those of his wives who performed umrah, sharing it among them.
Its chain is daif. Ibn Majah narrated it in the chapter on Sacrifices, section "How many people a camel or cow suffices for," hadith 3133, from the hadith of Walid bin Muslim, with this same wording. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, hadith 977, as did Hakim, who said it meets the standard of the two Shaykhs, 1/467, and Dhahabi agreed with him. The hadith has corroborating narrations. Yahya bin Abu Kathir narrated it using "an" without specifying direct hearing, but the hadith of Bukhari, 1709, and Muslim, 1319, make it unnecessary to rely on this one.
