The Messenger of Allah ﷺ included among the sacrificial animals he offered in the year of Hudaybiyyah a camel that had belonged to Abu Jahl, with a silver nose-ring in its head.Ibn Minhal said, "A nose-ring of gold."Nufayli added, "He did this to provoke the polytheists."
حدثنا النفيلي حدثنا محمد بن سلمة حدثنا محمد بن إسحق ح و حدثنا محمد بن المنهال حدثنا يزيد بن زريع عن ابن إسحق المعنى قال قال عبد الله يعني ابن أبي نجيح حدثني مجاهد
أن رسول الله ﷺ أهدى عام الحديبية في هدايا رسول الله ﷺ جملا كان لأبي جهل في رأسه برة فضة قال ابن منهال برة من ذهب زاد النفيلي يغيظ بذلك المشركين
[Hasan]. Ahmad narrated it (1/261) from the hadith of Muhammad bin Ishaq, through this chain, and he explicitly stated that he heard it directly. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih (h. 2897, 2898), as did Hakim, who said it met the conditions of Muslim (1/467), and Dhahabi agreed with him. The hadith has corroborating narrations in Malik (Yahya's version, 1/377) and Ibn Majah (h. 3100, 3101) and others.
