He reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked, and he mentioned something similar to the hadith of Rabia. He said that the Messenger was also asked about a lost item that someone finds, and he replied, "Announce it for a year. If its owner comes, hand it over to him. Otherwise, take note of its tying cord and its container, then mix it with your own property. If its owner ever comes, give it to him."
