Some meat was brought to the Prophet ﷺ, and he asked, "What is this?"They replied, "It is something that was given as charity to Barirah."He said, "For her it is charity, but for us it is a gift."
حدثنا عمرو بن مرزوق قال أخبرنا شعبة عن قتادة
أن النبي ﷺ أتي بلحم قال ما هذا قالوا شيء تصدق به على بريرة فقال هو لها صدقة ولنا هدية
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on zakat, under the heading, "When the charity changes ownership," hadith no. 1495, and Muslim narrated it in the chapter on zakat, under the heading, "The permissibility of gifts for the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, though not for him or for Banu Hashim and Banu Muttalib," and so on, hadith no. 1074, from the hadith of Shubah, through this same chain.
