The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever begs while possessing the value of an ounce has begged persistently."I said to myself, "My she-camel, al-Yaqutah, is worth more than an ounce." Hisham said in his version, "more than forty dirhams." So I returned and did not ask him for anything.Hisham added in his narration that an ounce in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was forty dirhams.
حدثنا قتيبة بن سعيد وهشام بن عمار قالا حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن أبي الرجال عن عمارة بن غزية عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي سعيد الخدري عن أبيه
قال رسول الله ﷺ من سأل وله قيمة أوقية فقد ألحف فقلت ناقتي الياقوتة هي خير من أوقية قال هشام خير من أربعين درهما فرجعت فلم أسأله شيئا زاد هشام في حديثه وكانت الأوقية على عهد رسول الله ﷺ أربعين درهما
