The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever begs while having what suffices him will come on the Day of Resurrection with scratches, lacerations, or gouges on his face."Someone asked, "Messenger of Allah, what is the amount that suffices a person?"He replied, "Fifty dirhams or their equivalent in gold."Yahya reported that Abdullah bin Uthman said to Sufyan, "I recall that Shuba does not narrate from Hakeem bin Jubayr."Sufyan replied, "Zubayd narrated it to us from Muhammad bin Abdul-Rahman bin Yazid."
حدثنا الحسن بن علي حدثنا يحيى بن آدم حدثنا سفيان عن حكيم بن جبير عن محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن يزيد عن أبيه
قال رسول الله ﷺ من سأل وله ما يغنيه جاءت يوم القيامة خموش أو خدوش أو كدوح في وجهه فقال يا رسول الله وما الغنى قال خمسون درهما أو قيمتها من الذهب قال يحيى فقال عبد الله بن عثمان لسفيان حفظي أن شعبة لا يروي عن حكيم بن جبير فقال سفيان حدثناه زبيد عن محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن يزيد
[Its chain is daif]. Ibn Majah reported it in the book of zakat, chapter on one who asks for charity despite having sufficient means, hadith 1840, from Hasan bin Ali. Tirmidhi graded it hasan, hadith 650.As for Thawri's statement, "Zubayd narrated it to us from Muhammad bin Abdul-Rahman bin Yazid," this is a strange instance of concealment, since he did not mention the full chain to the end.
