Sahl bin Abu Hathma came to our gathering and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us, saying, 'When you estimate the produce, take it and leave a third. If you do not leave or take a third, then leave a fourth.'"
حدثنا حفص بن عمر حدثنا شعبة عن خبيب بن عبد الرحمن
جاء سهل بن أبي حثمة إلى مجلسنا قال أمرنا رسول الله ﷺ قال إذا خرصتم فجذوا ودعوا الثلث فإن لم تدعوا أو تجذوا الثلث فدعوا الربع
[Its isnad is hasan] Tirmidhi related it, Zakat, chapter on what has been reported about estimating the yield of crops, no. 643, and Nasai, no. 2493, from the hadith of Shubah with this chain, and Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 2319, 2320, and Ibn Hibban, no. 798, and Hakim, 1/402.
