Its chain of transmission is daif.It was related by Tirmidhi in the Book of Zakat, chapter on what has been said regarding the zakat of cattle, h: 623, and Nasai, h: 2454, from the hadith of Abu Muawiya Dareer, and Ibn Majah, h: 1803, from the hadith of Amash, through the same route. Tirmidhi said, "Hasan," and Ibn Khuzayma, h: 2268, and Ibn Hibban, h: 794, graded it sahih, and Hakim graded it sahih according to the conditions of the two Shaykhs, 1:398, and Dhahabi agreed with him. The hadith has supporting narrations.Amash used the form "an" without specifying direct hearing, and there has been discussion about whether Masruq actually heard from Muaz.
