The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say, "Allah, I seek refuge in You from hunger, for it is a wretched bedfellow, and I seek refuge in You from treachery, for it is a wretched inner companion."
[Its chain is daif] Nasai narrated it, chapter on seeking refuge from hunger, no. 5470, from Muhammad bin Ala with this wording, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, no. 2444. The hadith has many corroborating narrations. Ibn Ajlan reported it with "ana" (indicating possible discontinuity).
