The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It will be said to the companion of the Quran, 'Recite and ascend, and recite with measured tones as you used to recite in the world, for your station is at the last verse you recite.'"
حدثنا مسدد حدثنا يحيى عن سفيان حدثني عاصم بن بهدلة عن زر
قال رسول الله ﷺ يقال لصاحب القرآن اقرأ وارتق ورتل كما كنت ترتل في الدنيا فإن منزلك عند آخر آية تقرؤها
[Its isnad is hasan] Tirmidhi transmitted it in Fadail Quran, chapter "Indeed, the one who has nothing of the Quran within him is like a ruined house...", hadith 2914, from the narration of Sufyan Thawri with this chain, and he said, hasan sahih. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, hadith 1790, as did Dhahabi (Talkhis Mustadrak 1/553). It has a corroborating narration in Ibn Majah, hadith 3780.
