The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited Surah an-Najm and prostrated during it, and not a single person in the gathering failed to prostrate with him, except for one man who took a handful of pebbles or dirt, raised it to his face, and said, "This is enough for me."Abdullah said, "I later saw that man killed as a disbeliever."
حدثنا حفص بن عمر حدثنا شعبة عن أبي إسحق عن الأسود
أن رسول الله ﷺ قرأ سورة النجم فسجد فيها وما بقي أحد من القوم إلا سجد فأخذ رجل من القوم كفا من حصى أو تراب فرفعه إلى وجهه وقال يكفيني هذا قال عبد الله فلقد رأيته بعد ذلك قتل كافرا
Bukhari narrated it in the chapters on sajdah of the Quran, chapter on the sajdah of Najm, no. 1070, from Hafs bin Umar, and Muslim in the Book of Mosques, chapter on the sajdah of recitation, no. 576, from the hadith of Shubah, through this same chain.
