I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wipe his head once until he reached the qadhal, which is the upper part of the back of the neck.Musaddad's version states that he wiped his head from the front to the back, until he brought his hands out from beneath his ears.

Its chain of transmission is daif. Bayhaqi narrated it (1/60) from the hadith of Layth bin Abu Salim through this route. Layth is daif (Talkhis Habir 1/78, hadith 79, the majority declared him daif, and he was also a mudallis). Nawawi also said, "It is a daif hadith by unanimous agreement," in Majmu Sharh Muhazzab (1/464).
